SSL for NodePing Reports and Status Pages

Report and Status Page SSL

NodePing offers free SSL certificates for public reports and status pages with custom domains through ACME certificate providers like Let's Encrypt™. The SSL certs are available on our 'Professional' and 'Premeire' plans only. Below you'll find the instructions on what you need to configure to get SSL working for your public reports and status pages that have custom domains configured.

Set the Domain in the Report

In the report configuration, add the FQDN you control to the 'Custom Domain' field in the 'General Settings' tab. Example: 'status.example.com'

Set the CNAME records

You'll need to set two CNAME records in your DNS for the custom domain.

  1. Base Domain - Create a CNAME record for the FQDN you put in the 'Custom Domain' field of the report and point it to reports.nodeping.com
Example: The FQDN set on the report is 'status.example.com'
The CNAME record for 'status.example.com' points to 'reports.nodeping.com'
  2. ACME Challenge Domain - Create a CNAME record for the ACME challenge subdomain. Add '_acme-challenge.' to the front of the FQDN you set on the report and have it point to
    _acme-challenge.<Your FQDN>.reports.nodeping.com
Example: The FQDN set on the report is 'status.example.com'
The CNAME record for '_acme-challenge.status.example.com' points to
    '_acme-challenge.status.example.com.reports.nodeping.com'

Wait for the Changes

Once you have made these changes, your DNS changes have to propogate, and our system needs some time to pick up on the DNS changes and request the certificates. This might take a few hours.
